Valkyrien Allstars

One of Norway’s most respected live bands, pioneers of the new folkmovement, and true masters at weaving tradition into something modern, heartfelt, and wildly alive.

Their seventh album “Venter på noen, som venter på noen” was released June 13, 2025, following up the critically acclaimed “Slutte & Bynne” (2020). The band won a Spellemann Award in the category Vise, though their music leans heavily into pop rooted in folk traditions.

They have now joined forces with the Swedish folk label Supertraditional and serve listeners nine finely crafted songs about life and living. This release continues Valkyrien’s unmistakable blend of traditional and pop music — a formula that has taken them across Norway so many times it’s a wonder there are still trees left in the forest.

Since their very first release in 2007, Valkyrien Allstars have gone ahead of their time in developing arranged folk music. Each album has moved in new directions, making them pioneers of the new wave of folk with their own distinct expression.

The band consists of Tuva Syvertsen, Magnus Larsen Jr, Erik Sollid, and Martin Langlie. Together they create and arrange songs that remain eternal love stories and mysteries that never quite resolve. Both on record and live, you can expect energy, tenderness, and surprising turns.

Over the years they have won awards for everything from Album of the Year to Best Composition, and they have played across every imaginable horizon — from the smallest barns to the biggest pop/rock festivals, traveling from Japan to Svalbard with fiddle under arm. Now, in 2025, they stand as one of Norway’s most respected live bands and true pioneers of young traditional folk music with a contemporary pop twist.
